Confraternidad Church Celebrates 20th
Anniversary
|

In 20 years, the
Confraternidad Church has grown from a small
bible study to a church of more than 1000
with two daughter churches. |
BOGOTÁ, Colombia – 2003 marks the
20th Anniversary of the Confraternidad Church in
Bogotá, Colombia. Founded by missionaries Howard and
Jan Biddulph, the Confraternidad Church has grown
from a small college bible study to a 1,000+
congregation today. Biddulph credits a 1983 visit to
the Encounter with God churches in Lima for
providing the vision and direction that would help
shape the Confraternidad Church into one of the
leading evangelical churches in Colombia. Since
1998, the Confraternidad Church has planted two
daughter churches. In addition, the church is
heavily involved in the establishment of a new
Encounter work in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay.
As Confraternidad marks its 20th Annniversary it
enters a time of transition. Earlier this year,
Senior Pastor Howard Biddulph formally turned over
the leadership of the church to Colombian pastor
Luis Miguel Huertas. Pastor Huertas’ testimony is a
remarkable one. As a child he worked the streets as
a shoeshine boy, yet eventually went on to receive a
university education and seminary degree.
